I think the typical gestation period is 9 weeks for all dog breeds, including Chihuahuas. My veterinarian recommended coming back at the 1 month mark to get the dog checked. They also recommended an ultrasound so we could see how many pups to expect, but we opted out because of the price.
A chihuahua is usually pregnant for 63 days. Chihuahuas usually have 1-4 puppies in a litter. This breed has more delievery complications than the other breeds because the mother is so small. Many vets encourage the dog owner to take the female to the vet for the puppy delievery because of this fact.
The gestation period for any dog, no matter its size, is approximately 9 weeks. A small dog like yours will have a estrus cycle(heat) at four to six months of age. Once pregnancy does occur, expect the adorable little puppies to arrive anywhere between 58 to 68 days later.
The approximate gestation period for all dogs is about 9 weeks (or 63 days). However, since chihuahas are really small and puppies do not need as long to develop, their gestation period is
shorter, usually 55-59 days.
It is a 63 day gestation period for all dogs. Her temperature will drop, she will get anxious and start pacing, she will start cleaning herself around the vulva when it get's near that time.
