The fiber comes from an Angoran goat, which is sheared off. Traditionally, the goats get washed, hair cut and washed, then the fiber is combed and carded and then pieces are separated and spun together. The spinning can be done in different manners that will change ply, texture and thickness.

It's shaved from an Angora goat, then washed several times. Then it's combed and carded with fine brushes to go in the same direction, split into chunks, spun to yarn.
