Cornices can be removed and refinished with paint, wallpaper or fabric. Drapes or sheers should be hung from rods under the cornice and blinds should also be installed underneath.

If you are creative you can cover them with material and batting. Or you can paint them, a slightly lighter but a contrasting color to the wall. Or pick a color from the drapes.

The best and quickest way to change the way a cornice topped window looks is to change the upholstered fabric. All you have to do is place some batting on the cornice, staple some fabric over the batting and hang the cornice back up.
