It is very appealing business, in this field most of the most of the agents are independent contractors, so they are able to schedule their work hours. But in order to become successful you need to be persistent and diligent, work really hard and invest a lot of time and money.

You need to contact a reputable realestate office in your particular area. They will tell you where you can get instruction to obtain a realestate license. Some of the larger firms have their own instructors. After obtaining a license you will need to apply to a firm so you can become affiliated. Then your hard work equals a promising career.

Definitely need to work your way up, having an understanding of marketing and identifying niche market segments would definitely help. Most importantly you need to network and be known.
