Your PS3 should already have an Ethernet port built into it. Check your internet (DSL/Cable) modem. If it only has one port for an Ethernet cable (which your computer is currently using), you'll need to purchase a switch to plug in both the PS3 and your computer.

The PlayStation 3 already supports both an ethernet connection and a wireless connection. If you want to connect it through a wire, just plug a standad ethernet cable to the back of the console (you might want to check the console manual for the details).
