You will need to visually inspect your cat, making sure to carefully groom back every little patch of hair to reveal the skin. Ticks will look almost like a tall, flat mole, projecting outwards from the skin.

Your first task is to carefully search through her fur down to the skin. This can spook some pets, so sit her in your lap and pet her while brushing the fur aside to look for ticks. If you find one, remove it with tweezers and make sure to get the head as well as the body.

It should be fairly simple to tell if your pet has a tick. Excessive itching is the give away. Look in the area, brushing the fur backwards gently. You will feel and see a small bump. The head will be inside the skin, with the back end sticking out, that's the bump. Consult your Vet.

You will know that your cat has a tick if it is frequently scratching and if you see a bug where it is scratching. If your cat is acting differant then you know something is wrong.
