To file a 1040, or standard US federal tax form, go to a public library and pick up a tax booklet. Fill out the form, attach any W-2 forms you have and mail it to the address supplied.

Collect all income statements for a given year (W2, 1099). Organize income by type (wages, interest, dividends, etc). Add each type and put the total on the corresponding 1040 line.

There are a couple ways to file a 1040. You can get the physical paperwork and mail that in to the IRS or you can file online.
