It is best to represented by a lawyer. They cover all the tracts. Your best bet is to see if someone you know, knows a lawyer or will do it pro-bono. He can advise you if you need to file or not, or see a credit counselor that can help you get out of debt.

It is not a requirement to have an attorney, but one may need one if they are not confident enough to negotiate with creditors and The Chapter 13 Trustee.

You need to get a lawyer, there are many new bankruptcy laws in effect now and a lawyer will be able to file all the paperwork that is required.

Most people that try to file for chapter 13 without a lawyer lose or it gets drug on. You may be able to find a lawyer that you pay after you win.
