RID shampoo is an effective product for the removal of head lice, but certain types of dog shampoo have been to be equally effective, if not better. The best advice, however, is to take precautionary measures not to contract head lice at all.

Rid Shampoo works pretty good, but it smells awful and the combs are horrible. Lice freeee is better. It contains less chemicals, smells like licorice, and it has metal combs.
