Do you think tellers are just glorified cashiers?

Tellers are responsible for a money as well as quality customer service. A bank teller position is an entry spot for anyone who wants a career in banking.

Yes and No. Bank tellers are not paid very highly. But they have to work with customers and do many different types of customer transactions that are more complicated than cashiers handle daily. They are considered one of the lowest employees in a bank but are very valuable.

Cashier literally means one who handles cash. They ring up goods, print the total from the receipt, and process the change or credit card transaction. Bank tellers also generate financial statements, handle far more money, and have access to private financial information; this is a more sensitive position and thus pays more.

Absolutely not. Tellers are trained professionals who are there to provide excellent customer service. They are the first impression made for the banking instiutuion and they are vital for continuing business with that bank. They are also able to prevent crimes in that they can spot counterfeiters or if someone is trying to commit fraud.
