Clicker training is very effective (there are several books on it). Associate the clicks with food (by giving treat); then reward performed tricks with clicks. Always be positive, use short training sessions, and keep it fun for your dog. Poodles are fairly smart, so you should have some impressive results.

Teach the dog to use a litter box. When you see the dog start to relieve himself put him in the litter box. If for some reason you can't let the dog out i. e. , due to working late or being sick, the dog can still relieve himself. It's a great option to have when you have a small dog.

Kennel your pup when you're not home and at at night. During the day take your dog out once every hour or so at first and after you see him drink or eat. Dogs ALWAYS have to pee after drinking water. Your pup will learn to hold it for longer.

Potty training any puppy takes time and lots of patience. If your pet is wee wee pad trained, keep moving the pad closer to the door, until she is outside.
