Can you put indoor/outdoor carpet on a wood deck?

I am wanting to put something on my wood deck to make it softer for my toddler to crawl on.

Although I do not actually picture this looking very good, I think the carpet will look out-of-place, I can certainly understand why you want to do it. So toddler won't get splinters, go ahead, keep in mind sun damage and that if it rains it will take forever to dry.

Sure you can. That would be a good idea... you don't want your child to get splinters. Just make sure you get carpet that can handle the climate where you live, e. g. temperature, moisture levels etc.

You can do this. I would consider an indoor/outdoor rug versus carpet. You want to be able to remove the carpet for cleaning, as needed. You can create your own indoor/outdoor carpet using a remnant(scrap of carpet) and carpet tape. Wrap the carpet tape around the edges of the carpet to bind it and create a decorate border.
