Yes Benjamin Moore marine is a great choice for using around the pool. However before applying the varnish its best to let new wood do whats called "season". This means letting the deck sit unpainted for at least one summer. This allows perfect varnish saturation , leaves no splotches.

Benjamin Moore's 441 Spar Varnish is designed, like all spar varnishes, to protect wooden boats. It is UV resistant so it will protect the wood from damaging sunlight, and it is alkali resistant so the chlorine in the pool won't be a problem either. As long as the wood isn't permanently submerged in water, any spar varnish should work well.

Benjamine Moore Marine Varnish is a great product and is certainly durable enough for a pool deck. Be careful though because it will be slippery when wet.
