You will need 9 total players on the field for a complete team. There is the pitcher, catcher, first base, second base, shortstop, third base, left field, center field and right field.

The positions in softball are NO different than baseball. Thus, you need the following: a pitcher, a bat catcher, a first baseman, second baseman, third baseman and a shortstop. In the outfield, you need a center fielder, a left fielder and a right fielder, and you should also have reserves in these positions as well.
