Can medicaid be transferred from on state to another?

I am on medicad and will be moving soon, I need to make sure I can transfer it.

No, Medicaid can't be transferred from state to state. You will need to apply in your new state and they will have to close out your Medicaid from your previous state. Not all states have the same benefits so you may not be eligible in the new state.

Although federally funded, medicaid is a state-based program and cannot be transferred to a different state. You will have to reapply in your new state. Moreover, the qualifications differ from state to state and you may not be eligible at all in the new state.

no medicaid does not transfer state to state. You have to cancel the current medicaid and then apply for the medicaid in the state you are in. In some instances you can file for emergency medicaid if you must have it.
