Alcohol is a depressant. Thus, though when intoxicated one feels relieved of stress and compeletly at ease, it really doesn't contribute to these feelings. The lightheaded feeling and the over excitement one reiceives when drinking is due to the rush of the thinned blood throughout the body. However, after a night of drinking the anxierty returns sometimes worse than before.

Liquor doesn't directly take away anxiety, but for some people it can calm them down by making them sleepy. Other times, it can cause anxiety to worsen or other side effects to occur (such as doing things one would not otherwise do, as an example).

It's true that liquor can be used to alter human mood and lower inhibitions, but some people with lowered inhibitions are even more anxious. And, as medications for anxieties go, the social contacts and the side effects of using liguor to do this can end up causing a cumulative raise in any person's level of anxieties.

No liquor will not take away anxiety, but it may lessen the sense of anxiety while being consumed, however, the same feelings may come back even worse once the booze is removed as the withdrawal will only exacerbate any and all feelings of tension. Essentially magnifying what was the original problem.
