You should quit being so hard on yourself. You're online, so your risk is decreased. Just be yourself--TV and movies try to convince you that gay people are extremely "different", but they're not.

I would realize that online dating can be a better situation because you can see what they look like and get some idea of what their personality is before meeting them. You do not have to waste your time on someone who may not have the same interests as you.
