No, a Netplay controller won't really enhance your performance. The Netplay controller is way too bulky and the D pad is horrid. The transition period of even trying to get used to the controller will definitely decrease you performance especially in fighting games. There are few 3rd party controllers that will boost your performance in games.

It depends on the game. Netplay controllers can make FPS a lot easier, since cross platform games like Half Life are often designed with a keyboard in mind. More keys mean you can have a wider range of functions then the buttons on a controller would allow.

For people who like instant message instead of voice-chat, this gamepad has a keyboard in the middle so you don't have to switch with your original keyboard back and forth.

Netplay controllers are nothing special. Any new type of keyboard takes time to get used to. You can look at and demo controllers and keyboard inside many stores just buy the one that is most comfortable for you. The single most thing you can do in improve your performance at any video game is more practice.
