Can you use psp as a controller on a ps2?

I need to use my ps2 controller on a psp.

It is possible to mod the PSP to do so, but the signal isn't consistent enough for it to be used to play games.

No you can't. A psp is a game system all by its self. Same as the Ps2. You can use the psp to connect to your ps3 though i beleave.

Simply put no, no you cannot use a PSP to control a PS2. The PSP was mostly intended for use with a PS3. The PSP does not offer a controller port to play through. (No the USB wont work either. ) The PSP also lacks the shoulder buttons required for most games.

Yes you can however to do this you must mod your psp and hardwire the controller. You might what to look around to see if anyone is selling adapters yet.
