If you were trying to dye your hair blond, then the dye did not have enough time to react all the way with your hair, and instead of it turning blond, it went orange. It is an unfinished chemical reaction. Next time leave it on longer.

It's because store bought brands dont have enough bleach. Get it proffesionaly done.

It sounds like you were trying to turn very dark hair blond. When you do this, you need a toner. This process should be done by a licensed hair dresser for the est results.

I went to a professional licensed hair dresser for highlights and lowlights and he suggested I dye my whole head, then add highlights. My hair is orange and after he went through 4 chemical processes to fix it! And my hair is dry and split and ruined!  add a comment

Coloring your hair is a really tricky business and if you colored it at home, by yourself than you could have really messed up the timing or color choice. If you were going for a red and got orange than you hair might have been too light for the dye.

Your hair turned orange because of the red tones in your natural color. When putting a color with yellow in it the red tones turns the yellow color orange that is why you should use an ash color this takes the red tones out.
