Cigarettes are a serious and lethal health hazard. The chemicals in the tobacco when ignited become released to damage cells of not only smokers, but also non smokers by inhalation.

Cigarettes cause billions in health insurance cost both for the user and the people around them. It causes underweight birth and affects multple people. Because it hurts more than the user they should be illegal.

Cigarettes are illegal because they are strongly addictive and have horrible effects on the health of not only those who smoke them, but also on people who inhale secondhand smoke. Smoking-related illnesses cost America millions every year in both direct costs and lost productivity.
