The dodo became extinct in the mid 17th century. It became extinct because it only lived on one small island in the Indian Ocean, it was flightless, it wasn't afraid of humans and because it made it's nests on the ground allowing dogs, cat and pigs to eat their eggs.

The Dodo bird was unable to fly and therefore became an easy target for predators, including humans. In addition, the Dodo nested on the ground making its eggs vulnerable to opportunistic predators.
