If your slider is never active, it's habitat may not be at the right temperature. Air Temperature: mid 70's - 80's, Basking Temperature: High 80's to low 90's , Water Temperature: ~ 72 to 76 degrees for sub-adults & adults, 78 to 80 degrees for hatchlings & smaller juveniles.

They do that. They just hang out in the water with their noses poking out of the water. also they like to just sit in the sun and do whats called basking.. it helps harden their shells.. so don't disturb them when they are doing this as it is very important.

Red eared sliders are wonderful pets who are accustomed to certain behaviors in their natural habitats. They are sensitive to temperature, and they should move and bask in a regular basis. Make sure their water is around 76F or 24C and their basking spot at 94F or 33C.

My guess is that he is sick or dying... Is he old? You chould take him to a vet that specializes in turtles.

Are you sure he's alive? He could have an injury that is impeding his movement. He could also be suffering from some sort of illness that makes him exhausted. Ask your vet.
