There could be many reasons. Your kitten may feel that the litter box is not clean enough, not large enough, or even not private enough. The kitten may even be having a difficult time getting inside if the litter box is taller than where the kitten can easily get into.

The first thing you need to do it take him to the vet to make sure he is healthy physically. Some illnesses, such as urinary tract infections, can result in a cat not using the litterbox.

Cats prefer urinating in a dark, safe place where they can dig into the dirt (or blankets in this case. ) Move the kitten to the litter pan whenever it's urinating.
