A HIDA scan (Hepatobiliary IminoDiacetic Acid scan) creates pictures of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tract and small intestine. These images help your physician track the production and flow of bile from to liver to the small intestine. Bile is a fluid produced by your liver that helps digest dietary fat. Always ask your doctor why tests are being ordered.

Most likely your doctor is looking for a gallbladder problem. HIDA scan tracks bile duct leakage, obstructions or congenital abnormalities, as well as gallbladder inflammation. Totally straightforward, no worries.

A HIDA scan is a procedure that is done in the Nuclear Medicine department, which is a department in Radiology. This test is ordered to check your gallbladder. This test checks the flow of bile. This test shows your gallbladder, liver, and bile ducts. This test requires a radioactive "dye", if you will, to highlight these areas.

The HIDA scan makes a picture of the liver, gallbladder, and small intentine. This scan tracks the flow of bile. The doctor may suspect a gallbladder problem, such as leaking or an obstruction. Your doctor will discuss the results and come up with a course of treatment.

A HIDA scan will show a doctor how bile flows from your liver to your small intestine. It is typically ordered if your doctor suspects gall bladder issues, as bile flows from the liver, through the gall bladder, and into the small intestine.

A HIDA scan is performed to see if you have symptoms of gallstones or any sort of gallbladder abnormalities. How it works is that dye is injected into you and makes its way into your gallbladder system. Using imaging technology, the gallbladder and its ducts can then be evaluated.
