If it has white or green flies it has aphids and you have to dunk it in soapy water or buy a special spray to get rid of them.

If the flies are long and slender and largely located on the leaves and flowers of the plant, you may have thrips. Treat with an insecticidal soap. If the "flies" are just minute black specks that seem to be coming largely from the soil, you probably have fungus gnats. There are biological controls available for this pest.

Good potting soil the plant is in will contain organic matter that flies adore! When soil is moist it becomes a great breeding area for them. Use organic soap showers.

Little fungus gnats or black flies infect house plants and potting soil. They are drawn to and thrive in over watered soil or other moist organic matter.

Have you been over watering it? Sometimes stagnant water in a plant will cause it to have flies. Check into this first.

Your houseplant may have flies from the soil. Sometimes, indoor soils are not properly cleaned. Take a close look at your watering and prevent water accumulation in and outside pots.

Houseplant attract flies especially if the surrounding is not clean, flies like moist places and that is another reason flies are attracted to your houseplant. Keep the surrounding clean and use a pest control product for plants.
