Kids pick up all sorts of bugs and viruses that cause sudden fevers that might disappear within 12 hours. It's hard to say. If there are no other symptoms, treat the temp elevation and find some quieter activites to keep busy.

It is very common for toddlers to have fevers and you have no idea why they have them, the most obvious reason would be teething. A simple cold is also another common reason toddlers may start to run a fever. In addition many virus's would cause a fever and nothing else.

Things like teething and ear infections can cause unexplained fevers in infants and toddlers. If your child has fevers often look into the cause.

A fever is a sign of infection, this is how your body warns you that something is wrong. Toddlers are usually playing and touching all sorts of things, so unexplained fevers are a result to that. It's normal, just give the child Children's Tylenol until it's gone. If it doesn't stop then you should call the pediatrician.
