Why do people build religious statues?

Religious statues are something that are created in honor of what is being worshiped. It's important to note that they aren't worshiping the statue, but what the statue represents.

Some people find that having a physical image to consider brings them closer in relationship to or understanding of God, Jesus or the person or event represented. They do not worship the statues, as the Bible warns against worshipping idols; rather, they serve as a visual cue for meditation.
