You're asking a question that exposes your biases. You won't likely accept ANY explanation, since you've already showed you deride and scorn science. But, religious visions are generally considered to be hallucinations, mass hysteria, a type of waking dream where the subconscious brings the person's own deeper knowledge and beliefs to the forefront, or simply outright lies in some cases.

There are interesting correlations between some seizures and religious visions, and there are connections with neurotransmitting chemicals. Sensitivity to the visual/dream functions of the brain brings visions to the foreground.

There are many explanations, but a favorite is insanity or delusion. Also, there are hallucination explanations and self-delusion, like willing themselves to see something. Another favorite of science is to simply claim that the person seeing the visions is just a liar and that visions do not really occur at all.
