Why do people build ugly houses?

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I think the same can be said for "ugly". People may also build ugly houses because ugly materials are readily available.

Like anything in life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What you may think qualifies as an ugly house, is not necessarily ugly to the person who built the house. A lot of "ugly" houses are simply modeled after a modern art ideal which while "cool" and "new, is not exactly the most beautiful style of art.
