Maggots come from fly eggs and flies only lay eggs in rotting materials. Your first start would be to clean the shower from top to bottom. You may want to use a cleaner with bleach. Next you will want to rinse your drain, where material might be building up. Start with 1/2 c baking soda and 1 c vinegar.

they are there because of standing water. to get rid of them you must first figure where the water is pooling and also check the caulking around your shower. they also can be inside your drain if you dont use the shower much, which makes it a breeding ground for maggots.

We found maggots in our shower today and the trap is clean No animal can have died in my bedroom en-suite and my husband is still breathing! Lots of reports on the web of similar instances of maggots showering with humans. Maybe they like to be clean. It's a mystery!

Maggots form in something dead. Unless your shower is so filthy that a dead animal is under the filth, then there could be a dead animal in your wall.
