Question by  CharlesBrown (15)

Is it safe to put vinegar on bunnies in order to ward off maggots?

I do not want to harm my bunnies but I also want to make sure they do not get maggots, as I have heard this can be a problem.

To ward off maggots it is best to keep cages clean and to make sure your rabbit doesn't lie in one place all of the time. Check your rabbit often.

If you keep your rabbit clean and dry and indoors, you won't have problems with maggots. A weak vinegar dilution sprayed on the coat (avoid the eyes!) is acceptable.

Don't put that on your rabbit. It's not good for their lungs to breathe in vinegar. If you properly clean the cage and keep it dry you WON'T get maggots.
