Why did Stallone make the "Over the Top" movie?

Sylvester Stallone did like many other famous actors, he made a ton of great flicks & then made a couple really bad ones! That's just Hollywood. Sometimes people start doing it for the money, instead of for the role!

It is very likely that the script either struck a chord with him or with his agent. Given that he has had so many successful films, he has has the freedom to take chances which is likely why he took this chance. Once you are established in Hollywood, one unsuccessful film wont ruin your career-- and Stallone knows this.
