Why are some types of fungi safe to eat while others aren't?

Some types of fungi are poisonous because they contain toxins that cause serious illness and death. It's hard to tell which fungi are poisonous because they don't advertise their toxicity through characteristics such as color or shape. Unless you are an expert, only buy mushrooms at the grocery store.

Some fungi aren't safe to eat because some fungi have toxins and can cause illness or sometimes death because toxin level is difficult to find by just seeing these plants.
