Why are my peppers turning black?

That is a natural sign of aging. It is especially prevalent in hot peppers like jalapenos. To maintain their color, make sure you pick them when they are green.

Peppers sometimes turn 'black' when you grow them; although they're not really black, just sort of a dark purple. Some say that it is simply a 'sun tan'. They don't taste differently; in fact, I think they taste better. It's an anomaly and should not affect other peppers around it.
