Enos Slaughter was a baseball player in the major leagues. A right-fielder with a .300 career batting average, Slaughter played for five different major-league teams from 1938 to 1959, starting with the St. Louis Cardinals and ending with the Milwaukee Braves. He is a member of the Hall of Fame.

Enos Bradsher Slaughter was a right fielder in major league baseball for nineteen seasons. Nicknamed 'Country', he spent 13 seasons with the Cardinals starting in 1938; they have retired his #9 jersey. The 10-time all-star was in 5 World Series. Interrupted for three years of military service, his career included time with the Yankees, Braves and Athletics.
