The first intelligence test was created by Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon. Alfred Binet was a doctor working in a neurological laboratory in France in the late 1800's. Binet had worked at the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris and also at the Sorbonne's Laboratory of Experimental Psychology. Theodore Simon was a psychologist who worked at the St. Yon hospital.

Alfred Binet, a french doctor and his partner, Theodore Simon created the first known intelligence test. Results from the test measured an individual's mental age. Binet's purpose for creating the test was to distinguish innate intelligence from what an individual has learned.

In Psychology, the first IQ test was used by Alfred Binet, but before that there used to be a test for the army called Army Beta and Army Alpha.

Alfred Binet, a French psychologist who lived from 1857 to 1911 is credited, along with Theodore Simon with developing the first standardized intelligence test. It was called, not surprizingly the Binet-Simon Scale and was introduced in 1905, just a few years before Binet's death.
