The earliest dated guitar was supposedly introduced by Gaetano Vinaccia in 1779. The guitar had six strings and was created in Naples, Italy. His family is also known for developing the mandolin.
Guitars are descended from Asian and Indian stringed instruments, and evolved gradually. Stone carvings showing a Hittite bard playing what is essentially an ancient guitar date back 3,300 years.
Guitars have a long history. Unlike our popular modern-day guitar with electrical facets and convenience, the first guitar is believed to come from nomads in central Asia and India.
