Cotton candy was invented in 1897. According to most sources, it was invented by William Morrison and John Wharton. Both men were from Nashville, Tennessee. There are others who claim to have invented cotton candy, but again, most people give credit to William Morrisson and John Wharton.

Cotton candy was invented in 1897, in Tennessee by Josef Delarose Lascaux, Thomas Patton, John C. Wharton, and William Morrison. Morrison and Wharton were the once normally credited with the invention since they actually patented it.
