I have found the best roofing material currently available is rubber sheeting type roofing material. Property installed it provides a waterproof membrane that is often guaranteed for 40 to 50 years. Installation cost is higher than shingle and competitive with metal. There are several advantages with this roofing material, one being joints and connections that can be made without seems.

Slate is considered the premier roofing material because it is light weight and can last from 150 to 200 years. It is very expensive. Asphalt shingle is an affordable alternative.

Tile roof is the best for your money. Tiles last longer and stand up to the elements, like hurricanes and strong winds.

Ceramic tiles are the best looking roofs and last for a long time. While other roofing material are cheaper and even easier to install the ceramic tiles will last for years longer then any other roofing I have ever heard of. This makes them a great investment.
