A swollen face in the morning can be the result of an allergy. Many people do not know all the things they may have mild allergies to. You may have an allergy to the fabric of the pillowcase or a laundry detergent you have been using. This is especially the case if the swelling began after switching detergents.

That's a common symptom of water retention. Try reducing the amount of sodium in your diet and this should cause it to stop.
