Corgi's and Shih Tzu's are both good choices for a family with small children. Both breeds are very sturdy little dogs with good temperaments that can take more rough handling than other small breeds.

As it is commonly known small dogs are not the best choice when it comes up at socializing with children! They tend to be hyper and aggressive but since this is the case I would recommend a Pug, Shitzu or Yorkie Poo! Avoid Mini Spits, Chiwawa and Pekingese puppies

A minature poodle is a very good choice for a family dog. It is a very happy little dog, loves to play, easy to train,no health problems,and no moulting.

This depends more on the individual dog than the breed. The best way bet is to adopt an adult who is in foster care in a house with children.
