What should I know before trying a Chevy S10 steering column removal?

Removing the steering wheel column can cause the vechicle to unalign itself. Before you remove the column, You should first turn your wheel to be pointing straight. Take a marker and mark all joints from the top to the bottom and into the engine compartment while the wheels are allign.

It is a complicated process. You need to have a few special tools to do it properly. You will need a steering wheel puller and a pivot pin remover at least, along with your socket set, screwdriver, and wrenches. Make sure you take notes or snap some photos of how things come apart so you get it back together correctly.

There is really not nothing to know besides the basics to be able to get it off and on. You should be able to complete a job like this within a few hours.
