Can you help me troubleshoot my Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a clicking sound in the steering?

I keep hearing a clicking sound coming from my steering column.

Well if you have click that gets worse when turning the wheel then more than likely you have a bad cv joint. If it is constant then you may possibly have a problem with you power-steering pump or steering box.

It could be the self-canceling mechanism for the turn signal. If so, it's normal and not harmful. If it's not that, it could be a worn out U-joint in the steering column somewhere, which would warrant repair. These are found on the driver's side of the engine under the hood.

Look for a loose plastic housing that surrounds the column shaft. Also, there is a joint that may have become worn at the base of the steering shaft.

My mom had the same problem with her Jeep and it was just a small piece inside that cost about $200 with labor. Turn the radio up.
