In order to obtain licensing for becoming a real estate agent, a person must complete certain course work. Upon completion, there are several licensing fees that must be paid to the state. In time, licensing must be renewed which means paying additional fees. Your earnings may be small initially, but will increase eventually.

You need to have excellent people skills. I have yet to meet a real estate agent who is not friendly and very communicable. You need to be very organized because real estate agents often have busy days.

You will need to complete the educational requirements for real estate licensing in your state and take the state test. The local Board of Realtors would have the specific requirements and time frames for licensing.

You live and die on commission. You need to sell at least one house per month to eat, if not more.

The first thing you have to do is take the test, find a broker to sponsor you. Then be aware you are expected to work 24/7 including holidays.
