Take your cat to the vet before you do anything else! Older cats sometimes urinate on rugs, furniture and other things if they are ill.

If an older cat suddenly starts peeing on everything, that could be a sign of a urinary tract problem, so it is a good idea to take the cat to the vet. If a new cat has been added to the household, this could be about marking territory, so you need to consider that.

Cats sometimes lose bladder control as they get older. Take your cat to the veterinarian to be checked for other problems. Diapers for pets may be obtained at pet stores.

If your cat is male, and you have recently introduced a new cat into the household, chances are he's marking his territory. If this is not the case, it may have a bladder or urinary tract infection. A vet should examine the cat.

First you need to decide if this is a behavior problem or a medical one. Cats can get UTI's and they can be fatal if not treated.
