Can a new kitten and an old cat live together peacefully?

I have an old cat who is nice enough and I want to get a kitten.

It depends on if the cat is used to being around other felines, as cats are territorial like many animals. You could have one indoor and one outdoor.

Yes, the older cat will take some time getting to know the kitten. After just a few days the older cat should be able to be around the kitten more offen.

Cats rarely enjoy each others company immediately. They will get used to each other over time. Put the kitten in its own environment for awhile.

Be around when you introduce the two and make sure that they get along. If they don't keep them separated while you're gone. It should work out.

Young and old cats can get along perfectly fine living together as long as the older cat is not possessive of their owner and surroundings. The older cat will stay more active with a young cat around that wants to play alot. The younger cat will learn habits from the older cat.
