Unless you know alot about repairing them you probably would be best off with just buying a new one. If you want ot fix it yourself go to the website of your manufacturer and get the instructions.

A washing machine that wont go into spin cycle can be caused by a number of things. It could be something as simple as a belt that needs to be replaced, The actual transmission, maybe the water pump has stopped working, or possibly the switch control on your machine could need to be replaced.

Make sure that belt is not broken and try to force it spin with your hand while it is off, this might dislodge it.

If the machine is old, then re try it or replace the parts. If its new, this indicates the manufacturing defect. So therefore, take it back and get them to replace it. You can put your warranty into good use and tell them you are not satisfied for further incentives.

When mine wouldn't do that, it was a problem with the lid switch. If the switch doesn't register a closed lid, it won't start the spin cycle for safety reasons. If you're really handy, you can test the part yourself, but your best bet is to call a repairman and have him look at it.

It sounds like the transmission on your washer is not working properly you can take it off and take it into the shop and have it tested and fixed if thats whats wrong and it really shouldn't cost you as much as iit would if you had them come to your house to do it.

This is going to sound stupid but the GE repair man told me to unplug the machine and let it set a few minutes. Plug back in and open and close the washer lid 6 times. It should run. Mine did.

It could be a few reasons. It could mean that your washer is being overloaded. It could also mean that it it broken and needs to be repaired.

The spin cycle failure may be due to, dumping more clothes inside the spin tub and as a result it will weekends the coil to burn or disconnection of circuits.
