What problems would be caused by abolishing grades in schools?

Answer by  technogeek (6640)

There would be no way of measuring whether or not students are grasping the information that is being given to them.

If grades are abolished, children could lose their initiative for working hard to succeed because they would not have the reinforcement of a grade system. Without an incentive system, some children would simply not try. Rewards are useful for encouraging positive behaviors. In addition, there would be no mechanism for judging the effectiveness of curriculum.
