The Queen Cactus, or "Queen of the Night" (peniocereus greggii) blossoms one night a year at the end of June/early July. It has a soft sweet fragrance, and each cactus can bloom on different nights for approx a week. The fragrance can carry for 1/4 mile.

All early spring harbingers, such as tulips, daffodils, crocuses, etc. Primarily all of the family belonging to the Liliaceae , or the lily family have only one bloom a season. Fall blooms including asters, mums, goldenrod require the entire growing season to attain their blooms. Some tropical trees may send up a single flower.
